With the participation of 15 countries, the Grand Egyptian Museum hosts the creations of the stars of “Cairo Art”.

Amidst a remarkable presence of art stars and creative minds, the seventh edition of the “Art Cairo” International Art Fair at the Grand Egyptian Museum captivated attention. A large number of artists were keen to attend and explore the exhibition’s pavilions, emphasizing the event’s importance as a global artistic platform for cultural and artistic exchange.

The exhibition witnessed the presence of numerous artists, writers, and art professionals, including artist Yara El-Sekary, who affirmed that “Art Cairo” represents an exceptional opportunity to explore diverse artistic experiences and meet creators from around the world. She noted her consistent commitment to visiting the exhibition and engaging directly with the participating artists.

She added that the influx of such a large number of artists from various Arab and European countries to Cairo reflects the exhibition’s standing and importance on the international art scene.

For her part, artist Asmaa Sherif Mounir expressed her admiration for the artistic level of the works displayed by artists from Arab countries, emphasizing that the diversity of artistic schools within the exhibition provides the audience with a rich visual and cultural experience and reflects the development of the Arab visual arts movement.

The Minister of Culture, Dr. Ahmed Henou, participated in the exhibition’s activities, which featured broad artistic participation from 15 Arab and European countries, and the attendance of a number of art stars and professionals, including screenwriter Mohamed Hefzy, writer Ahmed Murad, Ahmed Farid, media personality Yasmine El-Khatib, producer Gaby Khoury, Yara El-Sekary, and Asmaa Sherif Mounir, in addition to a number of public figures, including Dr. Hala El-Saeed and Dr. Ghada Waly, the former Minister of Social Solidarity. In turn, the renowned visual artist Mohamed Abla affirmed that “Art Cairo” has become an important meeting point for Arab artists, noting that public interest in Arab art has witnessed remarkable growth in recent years. Abla explained that he has participated in the exhibition since its first edition seven years ago, considering it a genuine space for artistic dialogue between different cultures.

He revealed that his participation this year includes works from three different artistic phases of his career, including works dating back to the 1990s, the “Silk Road” period, as well as older works that reflect the evolution of his artistic experience.

In the same context, Mohamed Younis, director and founder of the “Art Cairo” exhibition, said that the seventh edition of the exhibition confirms its position as one of the most important art exhibitions in the Arab world. He explained that this year’s exhibition features participation from approximately 15 countries, including Norway and the Netherlands, along with more than 240 artists presenting nearly 1,800 artworks.

He indicated that the exhibition management is keen to increase the number of galleries and attract European galleries specializing in presenting Arab artists internationally, while focusing on the quality of the exhibited artworks.

Regarding the choice of the current edition’s slogan, “Arabian Here is Cairo,” Younis explained that the slogan reflects a belief in the unity of Arab identity, considering the Arabic language to be the most important link between Arab peoples and a fundamental tool for strengthening shared cultural belonging. He also touched upon the ongoing cooperation with the Egyptian Ministry of Culture, confirming that the Ministry is participating with rare museum pieces of modern art that have never been exhibited before, which has added special artistic value to the exhibition. This year’s edition is being held under the slogan “Arabic Art is Here,” emphasizing the role of Arabic culture and language in contemporary artistic expression. The program also includes a special tribute to the legacy of the late artist Gerges Lotfy, celebrating his outstanding contributions and profound influence on the course of modern art in Egypt.
